Special Session: AI-driven Innovation in STEM and Computational Education

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and computational technologies is transforming the landscape of STEM and computational education worldwide. This special session aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, educators, and practitioners to exchange innovative ideas, research findings, and practical experiences related to AI-driven educational innovation.

The session focuses on emerging approaches that integrate artificial intelligence, learning analytics, intelligent systems, computational thinking, and digital technologies into modern teaching and learning environments. Topics of interest include generative AI for education, adaptive learning systems, educational data analytics, AI-assisted STEM instruction, smart learning environments, and innovative computational education practices. This session also encourages the discussion of ethical considerations, human-AI collaboration, and future educational models that support sustainable and inclusive learning ecosystems in the digital era.

Short Biography of Organizers

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nathaphon Boonnam has the academic background in Pure Mathematics graduated from Tokai University, Japan. His interdisciplinary research interests spanning data science, artificial intelligence, geometric deep learning, digital technologies, and smart learning innovation. His current research focuses on the application of IoT and digital systems in smart agriculture, fisheries management, and marine resource development. He has also been actively involved in developing AI-powered educational technologies and organizing international academic activities related to STEM and computational innovation. He serves as an organizer, speaker, and collaborator in various international conferences, workshops, and educational networks across Asia. Now he is currently assistant professor in Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, Thailand.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jirapond Muangprathub has received a B.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics from the Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, in 2002, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology (KMITL), Bangkok, Thailand, in 2005 and 2011, respectively. In 2011, she joined the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Surat Thani Campus, as a lecturer. Her current research interests include educational data analysis, knowledge-based systems, knowledge representation, data mining, information retrieval, artificial intelligence, formal concept analysis, rough set theory, case-based reasoning, image processing, and the Internet of Things.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siriwan Kajornkasirat has received the Ph.D. degree in computational science from Walailak University, Thailand, in 2011. She has participated in Ph.D. research experience in Deakin University, Australia funded by the Royal Golden Jubilee Ph.D. Program (RGJ-Ph.D. Program). In 2014, she was invited to STEM education workshop under the international visitor leadership program (IVLP). This is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government. Currently, she is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani, Thailand. Her research interests include data science, computing science, advanced analytics online, STEM education, smart farming, internet of things (IoT), smart health, digital marketing, and e-marketing for tourism.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supattra Puthinaovarat received the B.B.A. degree (Hons.) and the M.S. degree in management of information technology from the Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, and the Ph.D. degree in information technology from the Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand. She is currently an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, Surat Thani, Thailand. Her research interests include flood modeling, geographic information systems, remote sensing, digital image processing, and machine learning.
